“There can be no transforming of darkness into light and of apathy into movement without emotion” Carl Gustav Jung
Moments of crisis can be very painful. It may even feel like being in the middle of an emotional hurricane. There are also crises that are silent, and life feels empty and meaningless. Most crises are related with unresolved issues from the past that have been triggered in the present and now demand full attention to be seen. We usually try to solve our problems alone because we like to see ourselves as able and independent. Seeking psychotherapy is a caring step in the direction of finally meeting yourself and resolving what has been left unseen and wounded.
Dr Iuri Conceicao is a licensed clinical psychologist and psychotherapist in the state of Massachusetts with experience treating adults and adolescents. I am a multicultural and bilingual psychologist offering psychological services in English and Portuguese.
I have 20 years of clinical experience in different countries working in a variety of mental health settings such as private practice, medical settings, psychiatric institutions, community mental health care, and residential treatment centers. I am currently offering individual psychotherapy for anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, loneliness and isolation, life transitions and crisis, immigration, PTSD and trauma, impulsivity, relational and work problems, self-esteem, and identity issues. I completed my postdoc in an eating disorder residential treatment center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where I specialized in treating eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.
My psychotherapeutic style emphasizes an empathic presence and combines psychoanalytical, existential, cognitive behavioral (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) approaches. I focus on a relationship that fosters curiosity about oneself and one's feelings. Our goal is emotional growth and transformation. Psychotherapy goals, defined collaboratively, can focus on different levels - from a relief of troubling symptoms to a deeper understanding of oneself.
